Earn on Rental Bots
Equipment you already own, earning while it would otherwise sit idle. This is the route from the front page to being paid — every step, in order, with what happens on the other side of each one.
- 01
Tap HOST on the homepage
The HOST tile on the front page is the way in. That is the whole first step — there is nothing to install and nothing to apply for.
It opens your host dashboard. If you are not signed in yet, you are sent to sign in first and land back here afterwards.
- 02
Create an account
An email address and a password. You agree to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy as you sign up.
Your account is a host account and a renter account at the same time — there is no separate application, and nothing to switch on.
- 03
Describe the item
Four things are required: a title of up to 80 characters, a category from the list, a daily rate between $1 and $100,000, and a replacement value. During early access the replacement value is capped at $2,500, so higher-value equipment cannot be listed yet.
A description of up to 2,000 characters, a city, and photos are optional — the form will take a listing without them. The listing is reviewed before it appears in Browse.
- 04
A request arrives
You see the dates, the renter, and the total. Nothing is committed yet: a booking is a request until you approve it.
The renter's card is authorised at this point, not charged. Declining releases that authorisation and moves no money.
- 05
You approve
You approve the request from your dashboard. Approval is the point the rental becomes real, and it is one-way — the status machine has no path from approved back to pending.
The renter's payment is captured in that same moment, and the rental total goes to you in full — the renter's service fee is theirs, not a deduction from you. There is no invoice to pay and nothing to reconcile later.
- 06
Handoff
You and the renter arrange the handover between yourselves, and you mark the item as handed over. Both of you photograph it as it changes hands.
Marking the handoff moves no money and releases nothing — it records that the rental actually started, which is what the condition photos are anchored to.
- 07
Return
You mark the item returned, and photograph it again.
That starts a 48-hour window. Inside it either side can add condition photos, and it is the same window in which damage has to be reported — one clock, visible to both of you.
- 08
You are paid
Nothing. There is no payout button and no withdrawal to request.
Your share reaches you through your own connected Stripe account, from the transaction that was captured when you approved.
What it costs
Hosts pay nothing. Renters pay a 2.9% + $0.30 Rental Bots service fee, shown at checkout. You pay no fee of any kind — you receive the rental total in full. There is no listing fee, subscription, or minimum.
Card processing is ours, not yours. Card processing is handled by Stripe, and Rental Bots pays that cost out of the renter's service fee. It is never deducted from a host's earnings, and a change in Stripe's rate does not change what anyone pays or receives. Rental Agreement §3.2 and §3.5.
What hosting costs has the percentage and a worked example on a real booking.
Card payments are not yet enabled. You can list and receive booking requests today; no money moves until we turn payments on. We will say so on that page when that changes.
What we do not do
Rental Bots does not own, inspect, test, maintain, store, deliver, or repair any item, and does not provide, arrange, or procure insurance of any kind. Handover is arranged between you and the renter. Identity verification is not performed at this time. Nobody booking through Rental Bots today has been identity-verified by us. The full list is on About.
