What it costs

Hosts pay nothing. Renters pay a 2.9% + $0.30 Rental Bots service fee, shown at checkout. There is no listing fee, subscription, or monthly minimum.

You pay no fee of any kind — you receive the rental total in full. Card processing is handled by Stripe, and Rental Bots pays that cost out of the renter's service fee. It is never deducted from a host's earnings, and a change in Stripe's rate does not change what anyone pays or receives. Rental Agreement §3.2 and §3.5.

When you are paid

A booking is a request until the host approves it. When they approve, the renter’s payment is captured in that same moment and the rental total goes to the host through their own connected Stripe account — there is no invoice to pay and nothing to reconcile later.

Card payments are not yet enabled. You can list and receive booking requests today; no money moves until we turn payments on. We will say so here when that changes.

What the service fee pays for

  • A written agreement on every booking. The renter accepts the Equipment Rental Agreement for that specific item, those dates and that total — and the version they accepted is recorded and does not change afterwards.
  • You approve every booking. Requests come to you. Nothing is confirmed, and no money is taken, until you say yes.
  • A card on file and a $100 refundable hold. Every renter provides a payment card in their own name, and a $100 refundable hold is placed when they request the booking. Both begin when card payments are switched on.
  • Condition photos as the record. Both sides can file photographs at handover and at return. They are timestamped, neither party can delete the other’s, and they are what a damage claim is read against.
  • A damage claim decided in writing. A claim is filed within 48 hours of return. The other party has 3 business days to respond, and a written decision issues within 3 business days of that window closing.

The service fee is set out in §3.2 of the Equipment Rental Agreement, and your use of Rental Bots is governed by our Terms. Rental Bots is a marketplace and is not a party to your rental agreement with the renter.
